end of Year Insurance Benefits in Glendale CA, Dr. Lucio H. Kim, DDS

The kids are back in school. The weather is getting cooler.  Leaves are changing color.  This means one thing...end of the year!!

Use it or Lose It

And to those of you with FSA /HSA accounts and calendar year insurance benefits, this means that the benefits and money you have is going into the "use it or lose it" mode.  Now let me preface this with I ALWAYS let patients determine when and how much dental work is done...but if you wanted to maximize the benefits or want to use your FSA/HSA accounts, this last quarter it!  Don't wait until the last week of December to do this either.  I once had a patient come in...had been seeing me for about 5 years, always discussed the issues he had with his mouth...he was never really ready...UNTIL...he was going to lose his dental benefits THAT NEXT WEEK and wanted to get ALL the work we had talked about (and had slowly gotten worse) over the years...AND was upset with me when I told him we couldn't do it all and that the insurance had a maximum they would cover.

My point is, if you were planning on using your benefits to take care of some dental issues you may have, then now is a good time.  If you just aren't ready for whatever reason, then do it when you are comfortable...or are in pain...whichever comes first. It's my job to let you know what is going on with your teeth and gums.  But it's always up to you when you take care of it.  If you have any questions about your insurance or how it works, give us a call and we can walk you through it.  We've been doing this for about 17 years so we know the ins and outs of the benefit game.  And I'm always here to answer any questions you have about any kind of treatment options and treatment timing.

Happy New Year From Dr. Kim!

 Let's have a great end of 2016!!
