Maintaining a healthy, radiant smile doesn't have to be a daily chore. With the right at-home dental care habits, you can keep your teeth sparkling and your gums strong. When you prioritize fuss-free, user-friendly at-home care, you open the door to a lifetime of oral wellness.

Say goodbye to the stress of waiting anxiously for your next checkup, wondering what issues may have developed since your last visit. With the right strategies in your arsenal, you can maintain a healthy, vibrant smile with minimal effort, leaving you free to focus on living your best life.

5 Tips for At-Home Oral Care

We understand the need for practical, easy-to-follow tips that fit into any routine. At the dental office of Dr. Lucio H. Kim, our goal is to empower our patients and help them avoid common dental concerns, such as tooth decay and gum disease.

Here’s what you can do to maintain your oral health between dental visits:

  • Brush your teeth — Be sure to brush your teeth twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Spend two minutes brushing in the morning and before bed. Replace your toothbrush every few months.
  • Floss your teeth — To remove food particles and plaque from between your teeth, floss once a day. You can use dental floss or a water flosser, whichever you prefer.
  • Rinse your mouth — After you floss your teeth, rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash for 30 seconds. You can also rinse your mouth with water during the day to keep it bacteria-free.
  • Limit sugar intake — Avoid sugary foods and drinks like candy, fruit juice, and soda. If you eat sweets, either brush your teeth or rinse your mouth afterward.
  • Eat a healthy diet — Eat plenty of fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins to keep your teeth and body healthy.
