This is a question I answer almost on a daily basis. I would make sure you NEED to lose the tooth. Although it may be for just a little bit longer, I would still want to retain my own, natural teeth. But the implant is definitely a choice rather than the bridge. The bridge needs to essentially destroy the teeth in front of and behind the space in order to anchor something there. And the long term longevity of the bridge is not a good as the implant.
The implant is the closest thing to "lifetime" that I will allow myself to say in this profession. It is a one tooth solution to a one tooth problem. It preserves the bone underneath it. And is about the same fee as the bridge...at least in my office, it is. There are very few downsides to the implant.
